Love for wolfkin?

Sun 06 Mar 2022, 22:27

Are there any adventure sites, third party or otherwise, that feature wolfkin and their culture?

There is interesting information hidden in the books if you are paying attention about them.

1) they don't really have a history of culture pre the bloodmist that anyone can find any reference to. 2) The druids think they are demon spawn, the Wolfkin hate that. 3) The Demon tables have options for the body shape. 1 option is Humanoid. Another is Wolfkin. Wolfkin is the only option called out specifically of all the races.

I.E. the druids are probably right. The Wolfkin, like Minotaurs, are probably an experiment with Mog that became stable enough to breed and got loose.

At least thats my take. I haven't seen any evidence to suggest it's otherwise.

#3 you mention was new to me. Very interesting.

But what I'm really looking for is not found in the main books. I'm looking for anything that delves more into their culture and any third party sites that feature them.

I'm fine making my own things up but would really like to see what others have done. There is a mention of a wolfkin city in The Bitter Reach but it is mentioned in passing as I recall.

about #1 where they don't have any history before the blood mist. Do you have a reference for that? Because I don't see any historical mention of Halflings, Goblins, Saurians, Wolfkin, or Whiners in the history section before or after the blood mist.

Goblins and Halflings have a mention somewhere (I don't remember if it is in the bitter reach or not) that they originally had a heart sapphire the same way elves have heart rubies. Loosing their sapphires is what split them into the 2 races. This is supposedly a very old event. How old is unknown. But old enough that nobody remembers or has any mention of their original kin. That is at least 1 legendary event that far predates the blood mist. The wolfkin don't have any of that.

Saurians and Whinners don't get mentions because they are not REALLY considered kin. Whinners are closer to humanoid shaped pests. In fact many of the races eat them. They might as well be pork that uses tools. The Saurians are far more primitive than the other kin. Or at least so different in culture that the other kin consider them to be primitive and thus not really kin. As such their histories are not recorded or cared about.

Otherwise, the Wolfkin seem to live in small nomadic communities in the woods. They were specifically unaffected by the Bloodmist while in the woods (Which makes sense since the blood mist only really gets you by making you depressed and nostalgic for home and the Wolfkin 1) don't have fixed homes and 2) lived in the woods) and you can use the map that shows where the various kin live to see the forests they inhabit.
