Looking at running MYZ for first time and I keep finding oddities such as:

Comic book is listed on the scrap table, but it is also listed as an artifact. Is the comic book on the scrap table intended to be an artifact or is the artifact comic book somehow special?

Scrap is scrap. The comic book that is an artifact is in such a good condition that it is actually readable, while the scrap comic book is just that scrap.

But it is up to the GM to decide.

Makes sense. I may have to stop overthinking and just run the game. The players can give their feedback and whatever homebrew tweaks can arise organically as a group determined to have the most fun.

I have seen some homebrew stuff wherein scrap is tracked and "spent" on jury-rig. I like the idea of making scrap a little bit less abstract, but definitely not a chore (i.e. breaking it down into different materials etc.). I'll play with that and then tweak as we run the game.
