Had a total party kill in Weatherstone last night. It was fun and now the players have made new characters. They start close to Weatherstone and it is not impossible that they will visit the site.

The old group woke the dead, but didn’t destroy the painting of Therania. What would the status of the dead be when the new group arrives? Are they still awake? For how long?

I'd say it would depend on how quickly they went back. Also, how much you wanted an army of the undead to be a promenant feature of your campaign.

I am not sure when they are going back, it may be within a week. As they didn’t destroy the painting I guess the undead are still under Therania’s command. They don’t march then, do they? Or would sje send them somewhere else to serve her plans? Where?

I would say once the curse is restarted they are up for good. There is no point in putting them back down to be reawoken. The surprise is sprung. The players know it.

Unless the players start some shit with Ravens purge that would make the undead an asset to her plans i imagine she would keep them there as a trick up her sleeve for when the time is right.
