Deranged Lasalle's ShipCat
A large (15kg) sized genetically engineered cat, modified from the Iberian Lynx, genetically programmed to be affectionate... Resistant to, but still subject to, NDD, and when they go nutters... (if choosing to roll, it triples all time ranges, so 3 weeks per roll or +1).

Special:
- Can evade close combat attacks as a free action on mobility once per Initiative. can counterattack for 1 bonus success as if this was a block.
- When Paranoid, it only shows up for feeding, and won't go into its cryoberth. When in attack mode...
- Most ships set the doors to open when it's within 20 cm of them and no pressure differential is present, so that it can go vermin hunting. If the crew hasn't thought to turn this off...
- All the standard close combat bonus success spends are available, as well as "Bite next attack", to determine if it bites, on a 2 or moreroll 1d; if equal or under the total successes, it will bite.
- It ignores cluttered terrain, but otherwise moves normally.
- It can be grappled, but it takes a bonus success to adjust the grapple to prevent a reduced attack. while grappled, it can
First Round: it always attempts an ambush; use the same rules as for a PC. The attack is 8d, damage 1, armor doubled, and it's smart enough to disarm with a bonus success. If not spotted, and no one in Engaged, it will attempt to sneak up and pounce.
1: Feed Me!: It runs up to engaged range to the nearest person, and begs for food. Manipulation to get the point across. If it succeeds, and the person responds by any motion towards the feeding spot or galley, or hands over treats, it's mellow for the next 1d6 rounds, following them and purring loudly, Then roll normally. If fed a full ration, it will purr for a turn, then disappear for 1d6 turns
2: Pet Me!: It runs up to the nearest person (fast), and makes a 4d shove (slow). If it succeeds, it attempts a grapple with 6d to promptly lay upon the chest. If upon the chest, it will happily sit there, purring, as long as it's being pet by that person, and no others are in Engaged range. The victim must roll Stamina at +3 (+0 if a kid) after the turn or take 1 damage from the much reduced breathing. If anyone else approaches, if there's gunfire or yelling, or if the individual attempts to escape or grab it, it does a 5 die, armor-doubled, 1 damage attack, with one free success.
3: Adore me from afar: It enters short range; it will hang out for 1d6 rounds, then depart. If anyone attempts to close to Engaged, it flees if it can, or attacks with 8d, armor doubled. Treats may be tossed; each treat rerolls the duration.
4: Rowr! Fffft!: It attacks the nearest weapon, be it holstered or not, with 8d, damage 0 + disarm, extra successes can be damage to the person and/or grabbing the weapon. If the weapon is light enough, it will carry or drag it off and "bury" it somewhere. If no one is armed, instead pick the tool, or it guards the door. Anyone entering engaged range of the item gets attacked, 8d, 1 damage, armor doubled.
5: Bite and shred: Moves to nearest person, makes one bite 6d, damage 1, armor piercing. If any damage gets through, it makes an opposed Mobility roll: on success, it will also inflict a #61 crit and grapple at the neck, and until ungrappled, it gets a fast action attack of 8d, damage 1, armor doubled, as it rakes the chest or back with all claws.
6: Flee! If prevented, roll 1d: 1-3 find cover in location, 4: Rowr! Fffft!, 5: Bite & Shred, 6: Ankle-biter.
S: Ankle Biter: 6d, 1 damage, armor piercing. If no armor successes and at least 1 damage, also inflicts a special critical: ripped achilles (See below)
Grappled: Fur and fangs! If grappled but not scruffed/blanketed, fast action 5d attacks, +1d per person in engaged, armor doubled, damage 1, if it gets a second success it may either break the grapple, or swap the armor-doubled claws for the armor piercing teeth. If it gets 2, it does both, only with 4+ does it go for extra damage.
Pounce: if successful at sneaking up, a 9d attack, armor piercing, damage 1, may spend a bonus success to inflict a pounce crit.
Pounce crits:
1: Ripped Achilles move becomes slow, requires surgery (1 shift) to fix penalty, bleeds (Death check at +3). 3d6 healing time from surgery.
2: Damaged Achilles:
Mobility –2 & can't run, 2d days.
3: Broken Hand (#23)
4: Gouged Eye (#34)
5: Cracked Spine (#56)
6: Ruptured Jugular (#61)
Note: It will typically attack anything vaguely prey-like (including smaller cats, small dogs) while under NDD.
When not under NDD, it uses this table vs anyone who has hurt its owner... or tries to treat its owner while the owner is making death checks...
Lasalle's techs are still trying to perfect the beasties, and they cost $2000 each, neutered.
When not deranged, they should be run like needy children. Note that the chest sitting may be a problem, especially for kids, even when sane.
