Foraging and resource die

Thu 08 Feb 2018, 14:53

I was wondering how ⚔ in foraging convert to resource dice?

When looking for food, success means that you find a number of food rations (page xx) of edible roots, herbs or other plants equal to the number of x you rolled. The plants must be prepared by a CHEF (page xx) to last, otherwise the bonus to your Resource Die degrades after a day.

When looking for water, success means that you find enough drinkable water for everyone in your group to fill their water skins up to a D12 Resource Die, if they lIke.
I am reading “rations” as resources die steps eg if you roll one 6 and you have no rations, you get a d4, but if you have d8 food, you step it up to d10. If you get two sixes or more you can share the success, so two of you step up your dice, or you make two steps up. (Max 12) I also assume that if you stepped up from (say) d8 to d10, and you subsequently roll a 1 or 2, you only step it back to d8...  but on that I may be wrong

Hi!

Yes, each "ration" of food steps up a resource die one step. This is a little unclear in the Alpha, and will be made clearer. :)

Perfect, thanks for clearing that up.

But unless they are cooked by a CHEF they spoil within 24 hours? So are they to be considered separate die until they are cooked properly?

If I have understood this correctly, if you forage two rations of food, that will be two resource dice if cooked. If not, then it is food for two.

This sounds good. Basically if you have food for two, you and another can eat that food that same day (unless cooked) and you won't have to roll your food die for that day, right?

That's how I read it at least and what we have done during our testsessions.
