Can you shed a bit of light on how people are organized for living? The deadly fog background suggests that most people are grouped up in relatively safe enclaves and that those will be defended at all cost since being homeless is, or was, effectively a death sentence. Is the rest of the land mostly just deserted or have people had enough time to form new established routes between places like markets etc? My current interpretation is that mostly you find no people at all, unless you find an enclave where there would be quite a lot of people, living quite cramped.

I ran our test session in the cliché roadside tavern that was just there for no good reason at all. That's fine for toying with the rules. But since it was such a success we will continue playing this as a campaign and so it'd be good to have some idea of what to expect in the published books.

I have the feeling that the mood is a little bit as in Earthdawn right after the first openings of kaers. Mistrust and caution are prevailing.

Well, the blood mist killings were never fully understood. It was obviously not a question of barricading against the fog since it would seep into some simpler houses quite densely without killing the inhabitants although strangers to the place often would be butchered. Whether you spent your night at your unguarded farmhouse, in closed off villages or tight castles didn't really matter. Wolfkin were obviously immune as were some other kins and individuals. Also the rust brothers seemed to be unaffected once they got to try. It is said that some Rust scholars at Hagglers House have studied the blood mist but it is not known whether they have learned its secrets. Now twenty years have passed and trade and travel have picked up.

There was the incident at Innsville where people unscathed spent the night in the fog, praying to the goddess Flow in the village square. When they tried the same thing in the woods they disappeared with only some blood remaining. Also the infamous drunkard Gorbledon of Yeek managed to travel from village to village almost 150 kilometers before being killed. It is believed he was spared since he was unconcious every night until he ran out of liquor.

All in all it was never the issue to defend against the blood mist, but more vital to stay were you belonged at night.

That is a good point.

One of my players was questioning this and was struggling with the mist stopping travel for 300 years.

As a PC the Wolfkin is more a lone wolf type and break the conventions of his race.

What would stop the wolfkin from ruling the lands as they could travel with impunity, raiding villages and taking charge?

Are there any nomadic folk in FL? I was thinking of having tribes or clans of nomadic horsemen on the plains around Ravenland. How would they have survived the Blood Mists all this time?
