Are players starting weapons and armor considered durable? What about items purchased on the Ark?


The weapon chart on page 86 shows almost every weapon in the game as being jury-rigged, therefore single use before it breaks. Whereas, the gear list in the back of the book (page 260) doesn't show any of them as jury-rigged in the comments.

Yes, just like Fenhorn says. The "jury-rigged" comment in the weapons tables just means the weapon can be jury-rigged (built by a Gearhead).
