New artifacts for intrepid adventurers and tomb robbers

Wed 19 Aug 2026, 07:10

Hello. I've created a couple of artifacts that I'd like to share. More may be added later.

Skuldsgrin
The bandit Rina No-nails was betrayed by her men and left for dead. Delirious from her wounds, she was visited by the laughing silhouette of Skuld, who charged her with terrible purpose. Her axe drank greedily from the blood of her former comrades and came to be known as Skuldsgrin. When she slew her last victim, she fell from hitherto ignored injuries.
Appearance: The rough-hewn shaft of this battle-axe is the colour of dirty bone, while the worn metal of its head belies a lethal edge.
Effect: Bestows a d8 artifact dice to melee. While wielding this weapon, any time you would suffer strength damage in combat, you reduce that damage by one. At the end of combat, you suffer any damage reduced by this effect - this can cause critical injuries with one rank in the Executioner talent.

Lot's Rock
A long time ago, a poor peasant lad by the name of Lot found himself before a belligerent giant. To save his life, he challenged the monster to a series of contests - racing around the great hill, crushing stone, and rock-throwing. At each turn, Lot used trickery or guile to beat or match the giant. At last, when the giant had hurled a small boulder a great distance, the peasant hid in his palm a bird which then flew all the way to the horizon and ensured that Lot could continue on his quest with his life intact. Since then, rocks with feather-patterns can sometimes be found in birds' nests.
Appearance: A well-rounded rock engraved with feather patterns.
Effect: Starts with a gear bonus of 3 and has a range of DISTANT (though hitting a small target at such a distance would be very difficult). Giants who become aware of these rocks have a 3/6 chance of becoming very irate with the owner.

Cloudbreath
The valondian brothers Musides and Kalos were both among the most renown artisans of their time. When a priestess of Wail asked them to fashion a statue in the likeness of her goddess, the two brothers obliged and chose to carve one version each. The work progressed merrily, with competitiveness but also mutual assistance and guidance. Alas, over time Kalos took ill and began to wither, and his work died with him. Still full of sorrow and regret, Musides' work also halted. Seasons later, the mountain workshop was destroyed by a sudden thunderstrike and Musides saw the beautiful skies which he had almost forgotten in his reclusion. Thus gifted with a breath of new life, the surviving brother put himself to a new task and created a magnificent bronze shield with a gorgeous depiction of the self-same heavens that had saved him from his darkening moods.
Appearance: This small bronze shield is emblazoned with beautiful paintings of a sunny cloudscape.
Effect: By spending a willpower, the wielder may cause one of these effects: 1) become as light as a feather until they reach the ground. 2) cause thick clouds to bellow forth, filling an entire zone. 3) cause sunlight to beam forth from the shield for 1 round.

Skuldsgrin is a really cool artifact! Seems to have a good balance between good and dark too.
And nice to add in some more lore to Skuld, the goddess of revenge could always have some more :)

Would it be ok if I add the weapon and reference you in the next version of Reforged Power?
