The normal with artillery is that you target a hex, everyone in the impact hex will suffer the direct damage, but without the extra damage for extra successes. In addition to this, you have the damage from the blast power (A, B, C, or D).
So if you are hit with a122mm howitzer, using HE ammunition, then everyone in the target hex will suffer the direct damage, which is 10. This damage is not increased by extra successes, however. The Crit for this is 1 and Armor is +2. If you have a flak jacket (Armor 1), you will have Armor 3 against this. So if you're hit on your body, you will only suffer 7 damage. The critical injury is rolled for by using 4d10. To this you will also suffer from the blast, which is B. A B explosion means that you roll 2d10 to see what damage you get. The damage for this is 3 with a crit threshold of 3 and and Armor modifier of +1. Anyone one hex away from the impact hex will only suffer the blast effect of C (2d8, Damage 2, Crit 3, Armor +1) and everyone 2 hexes away will suffer the bast effect of D (2d6, Damage 1, Crit 2, Armor +1).
With weapons like grenade or missile launchers you can target a vehicle (+0) or even an individual (-2). If you hit this time, only the target (the vehicle or the individual) will suffer the direct damage but with extra damage from extra successes. To this we have the damage from the blast power (A, B, C, or D).
So if you try to hit a vehicle (large target +0) or an individual (small target -2) with a RPG-7V, the target (vehicle or the individual) will suffer the direct damage of 7 with a Crit threshold of 2 and an Armor modifier of -1. If the taget is an individual (a bit of overkill), that person will suffer 7 damage. This can be increased with extra successes. If we assume that we didn't get any extra successes, then the target will suffer rom 7 damage. His flak jacket will not help him here since the Armor modifier is -1. He will roll 3d10 to see what critical injury he gets. To this he will also suffer from the blast effect, which is C for this weapon (2d8, Damage 2, Crit 3, Armor +1). Anyone else in the same hex will only suffer the blast effect. The blast effect from a C explosion will also hit one hex away from the blast but with a D effect (2d6, Damage 1, Crit 3, Armor +1).
