Kite Features

Tue 23 Dec 2025, 22:36

Is there an explanation for the kite features anywhere? Specifically I am wondering about vacuum and semi-autonomous but also wondering in general about features kites have. As an example, the recon kite is the only kite that lists a camera. Does this mean that the Squid does not have one? If so how does control work at extreme range?

Hi!

We hoped it would be sort of self-explanatory, but might have been too optimistic :)

The Squid doesn't have a camera; you just set it to a task, and it does (the mining). Of course, you can control it as long as you see it up to extreme range. Same for the Spider (but just long range, being approximately 100 meters).

The Discus (Recon) is made for recon and therefore has a camera relay to the controller, albeit with pretty shoddy resolution.

Hope that helps :)

How is the Recon Drone intended to be used on a Delve? How heavy/big is it? Can it be carried or is it something that can only be deployed from a vehicle?

It's intended to be carried with encumbrance 1. But it can only be used to observe, not to scan for Blight.

Oh that’s great. Where are the encumbrance values for the other drones found?

I guess I try and approach it too logically. e.g. How can a squid tell where to move to and what to mine without sensors. Even current path following robots have sensors, usually visual. But you answered the question so thank you again!
