Greetings,

I‘m currently fiddling my way into TOR, and have a question about the Encounter Tables found in Chapter 9 (The World). Do they interact in any way with the Journey rules?

My first understanding was that those tables would replace the Journey Event Table when the company is traveling in the designated area. However, since there is no Fatigue Loss indicated, this does not really fit on a second glance.

If there is no rule interaction between the two, how are you using them?

I use these as a complement to the journey rules and events, not a replacement. I don’t want to replace the normal events, as heroes have invested in relevant skills, and often have virtues that interact with events, or have used study storied and figured maps in the fellowship phase. They give each area their particular flavour, and can make a journey have some more choices and interaction, if desired. Or they can be left aside, to keep things quick.
