Hello everybody,
There’s one thing I don’t quite understand about story points.
Are they “attached” to the player and carry over from scenario to the scenario? The rulebook doesn’t mention this, but if they don’t, why is there a maximum of 3 story points per player if you can only get 2 (at the end of each act, which makes the third point meaningless)?

Hi MajorGlory (Welcome to the forum by the way!), regarding story points, don't worry about it too much. Personally, at my game table, I don't use them very often. I should probably reread the rules, but I think you get 1 point for each act (so 3 points total for a 3-act cinematic scenario). If I had to guess, each act is about 2 hours of gameplay. A standard cinematic scenario is about 6-8 hours of gameplay. In my opinion, you only use the points for that specific scenario. It's like the character (player) is in a zone of success within that story. Anyway, that's just my personal understanding of it (and I should reread the rules again). As I said, I don't overcomplicate things with this aspect in my games. Ultimately, each Game Mother decides their own rules.

Either I am missing something or some signifincant rule about the points is missing.

I don't remember if story points carry over in the 1st edition but in the Evolved edition you can carry over 1 point to the next adventure, so better use them in the scenario you play. The idea is (I guess) that the story point that you earn in the 3rd (and last) act can be used in the next adventure, otherwise that point would be pointless.

For example, after the first 2-hour session (your first act), during the next game (in the same scenario, i.e., the second act), the player in question will be able to use that point in either the second or third act.

In ALIEN RPG, story points are awarded and travel with the player, yes. Page 383 of the main rulebook.

I don't know if that remains true with ALIEN Evolved.

Yes, they're still for the player, but you can only carry one over - p158, Evolved Beta 2.
