What are the legal rules to publish an Alien RPG one-shot or campaign on DriveThruRPG? I ran the Building Better Worlds campaign and I wrote scenarios for each planet that wasn't part of the meta-puzzle. My players really enjoyed them and said I should publish them for other players to use as either part of the BBW campaign or as one-shots. But I don't see any Alien RPG one-shots on DriveThruRPG. So what are the third-party rules to publish something for Alien RPG?

The Alien RPG isn't included in the Free League Workshop license (like Mutant Year Zero, Forbidden Lands, Twilight 2000, etc.) sadly. So if you have a scenario, you can upload it on a forum (as long as you don't charge money for it or include any official logos or anything like that). The same goes for Blade Runner RPG. The One Ring (including the 5E version) and The Walking Dead Universe RPG. The drawback with big licensed IPs.

On DriveThruRPG, you can sell your modules for ZERO dollars, but you won't have any intellectual or property rights over them. Personally, I've developed and created several designs, maps, and characters for the ALIEN RPG over the past 5-6 years, and I've honestly never felt the need to sell my stuff.

From a legal standpoint, these are "derivative" rights when you develop "around" established brands and products. The Alien RPG belongs to FREE LEAGUE for adaptation, execution, and interpretation, but the entire (Alien) universe belongs to 20th Century Studios (aka Disney Studios). It's a bit like in the music industry: there are performers (FREE LEAGUE) and composers (20th Century Studios/Disney) of the music.

P.S. There are no derivative rights that are granted to anyone (in my opinion, except for exceptions such as FREE LEAGUE). Everything remains the intellectual or property rights of 20th Century Studios (Disney Studios). FREE LEAGUE must have protected rights to their creation but these are derivative rights "granted" by 20th Century Studios (Disney Studios) and (most) likely subject to content approvals.
