Roll on attributed

Sat 21 Jun 2025, 12:13

so...the rules say "When no skill seems suitable for the situation, the GM may require a roll using a base attribute, for example a STR roll"! but if I have 18 on strength do I roll under 18 or under its base value of 7? and then...in these cases aren't demons and dragons considered for any experience rolls?

Attribute rolls are under the attribute score. The base chance (page 25) is used to determine the that starting skill level of a skill.

So if you have Strength 18 and want to move a big boulder. None of the 30 skills fits this task so you make a Strength roll instead. Technically like a skill roll but using your strength score of 18 instead. You can get a critical result and mishap when rolling for an attribute, just as you can when when rolling for a skill, but since you can't increase attributes in this game, you don't earn an advancement mark for doing so.
