Willpower abilities and riding animals

Thu 21 Nov 2024, 15:44

So my first question is are you able to use multiple will power abilities in the same turn? Example if I use path of the blade rank 1 and use a willpower Point to bypass the opponents armor, am I able to combine it with path of the blade rank 3 and use another willpower point to increase the damage? Or are you only allowed 1 WP ability per turn?

2nd question is I really wanna make a rider and I can't seem to find the riding animals? And if anyone knows if I'm able to ride a bear? Or would that be up to the GM?

Thx in advance for the help:)

You can only spend WP on one effect at a time, so in an attack, you can either spend WP to ignore armour or to increase damage, not both.

You can find the stats for animals on p.126 in the GM's Guide. If you have the cards, then some named special animals exists on those. Yes, if the GM so allows, you can ride other animals. One obvious example is goblins riding wolves. In the campaign book, The Bitter Reach, there are cards (I think the cards come with the map pack for The Bitter Reach) of other riding animals, such as bears and a moose (I think it was).

Just to add to the Fenhorn's response, this near-exact situation is actually spelled out on page 61 of the Player's Handbook (specifically using the Hunter's version of this talent).

You can, in a single action, only benefit from a single Professional Talent's Rank effect at a time. "Buying away" armor AND adding damage after a hit is not possible. If you can act more than once in a round (e.g. Shooting twice with Fast Shooter 3) you can add the (single) effect to each shot, once.

As an addendum: at my table, where we use the multiclassing option from the Reforged Power supplement, we keep this limit up, but it only counts for one Professional Talent at a time, so that effects from different Professions can be combined (and must be paid for) in one action - e.g. casting a spell to help shooting an arrow , and after a hit also either ignoring armor OR adding damage. We are still experimenting with that, but it works fine for our advanced group (PCs with ~400XP each).
