Mutations/Modules LoS

Tue 10 Sep 2024, 15:08

Hello again!

Back with another request for clarification.

As the title says it’s about Line of Sight regarding mutations/modules.

Some cards specifically mentions LoS but others do not ex:

Pupeteer - mentions LoS
Pyrokinesis, luminescence, flamethrower (as ex.) - do not mention LoS

Is LoS only needed for the cards that state it? If it is needed for other cards, which ones/how to know?

Kinda makes sense that flamethrower/luminescence (unless the ability forces opponents to take a peek at the character) would need it. But maybe pyrokinesis doesn’t need it if the psyker ”senses” the target.

Any claritication that could be give would be greatly appreciated!

<> Ranged attacks follow the normal rules like range and requiring line of sight and targets can make armor and cover saves unless specified otherwise.
So Flame Breather require LoS since it is a ranged attack. Puppeteer isn't a ranged attack so that mutation doesn't follow the rules for ranged attack, hence the reason that the psionic needs to see whoever he wants to control with Puppeteer.

Thanks!

What about the luminescence mutation? Is it also considered a ranged attack?

If you affect another model with something that comes from your model, you always have to be able to see your target model. It doesn't matter if it is fire, light or bullets.

Golden rule, you always have to be able to see your target of a mutation.
