Hey all,

Looking for some official input from FL on this topic. In the 4e canon listed in the Referee Manual, it's noted that in late '98 after the bombs start to fall, that the Soviets surge forward far enough to take some cities in Southern Germany - specifically Leipzig, Nuremberg, and Dresden, before more nukes all and halt their advance. That's the last of the info about these Soviet units in Southern Germany, meaning that as referees, we're forces to assume that the Soviets still control these three cities and the surrounding areas in between them and Czechia. This makes for a quite unusually shaped "front line" for forces in Europe, where the lines go from east/west to north/south in Poland, and raises some questions for NATO units seeking to peel back into Germany.

So my question for FL is this - can you all confirm that the Soviets indeed still hold these cities in Southern Germany? Were they pushed back? And if they were, who pushed them back? If you all have OrBat info that would be best, but if not, it would at least be great to know one way or another whether by the year 2000, if Soviet forces were still extended so far into Germany.

p.s. For the Canon Plus project, we dropped in the 33rd Army Corps and the 32nd Combined Arms Army (both mobilization only armies) into that region to explain how they were still in Soviet hands. Here's a rough map of how the "front line" might look as it currently stands:
