Posting this to reddit didn't reward me in the slightest, so I'll try asking here instead.

Here's an idea I've been working on, which I'd welcome input on.

1. Fort Arlas from Ruins of the Lost Realm is transplanted to Mirkwood and used as Castle Fenbridge.
2. Dolomedia, the spider in Fort Arlas/Fenbridge, is a water-walking, sea-striding, ship-attacking spider from Umbar that Zimraphel unwittingly brought with her on her journey to Mirkwood, long ago.
3. Tyulqin wants to wed Tauler to Dolomedia to create a brood of water-walking spiders capable of traversing the Dusky River for a simulataneous attack on all 3 of the major Woodmen settlements.
4. Tyulqin needs Zimraphel to play matchmaker, essentially, as Dolomedia speaks only strange southern languages she can't understand, but Zimraphel is fluent in a few of them.
5. Tyulqin has proposed an alliance, for which she will help Zimraphel acquire a Ring of Power.

What would the first and second steps in their plan be? Caveat: Zimraphel is very grey in this version, and will not be directly involved in attacking or harming the Woodmen herself, that's Tyulqin's secretive plan.

It would be nice to involve Mogdred in it and perhaps the Toft in some form.

The only scene idea I have is the PCs coming across an utterly ransacked ruin in the middle of Mirkwood, warped and destroyed by the two's foul magics. The mental picture of the human and spider reducing some hidden place to ruins in order to gain... something... is a good one. I'm imagining it could be Feredrun's prison but I dunno what to do with that.

I would note that water-walking spiders would not function well at sea as they would need calm waters to keep themselves stable Though maybe I shouldn't overthink it.
