Sapper and Servant

Wed 18 Jan 2023, 08:39

Would a Sapper be able to use a Servant (Feat) to help load Siege equipment? I am thinking of grumbling, squabbling Labourer background Goblin Sappers.

I wouldn't allow the feat to negate the immobile trait but otherwise it sounds like it would be fun and useful.

"Crewed(n)" requires "several individuals" and "at least one" must be proficient with siege weapons - so if you meet that (e.g. your Sapper!) then the others can heave ropes & rocks as directed.

Doesn't affect "Immobile" which is the same whether it's grunts or experts - it's still slow and time-consuming to set-up/tear-down siege weapons.

The thing to remember is that a Servant will not contribute in dangerous situations. Given the way opponents tend to preferentially target siege weapons, it could well become dangerous around the engine - and your Servant(s) may flee! But then if you employ "squabbling Labourer Goblins", you get what you pay for!
