I just received my preorder hard copy of Building Better Worlds and I noticed there are still some inconsistencies in the text, including issues already highlighted by posters from months ago, which I have put in bold:
  • Page 39 - "Norcomm" is misspelled "Norcom"
  • Page 59 - The sidebar labeled Electrostatic Weaponry refers to the ES-7 Shockgun as the ES-7 Rifle.
  • Page 63 - The Note From MU/TH/UR isn't clear about what it refers to but is presumably the YAWS3 - this would only be inferable if one was reading the whole page through from top to bottom though.
  • Page 75 - the costs for the Heliades and Magellan class vessels are listed at $20 million and $40 million respectively, despite the text on the previous page stating that a ship from each class respectively costs $1 billion and $2 billion.
  • Page 125 - the entry for the Stage V Abomination includes a hanging "either" in the first sentence with no other referent. The sentence likely ought to read
After days to weeks at Stage IV, some Abominations will cocoon themselves to be reborn as the Perfected (page 126).
  • Page 127 - objet d'art should be pluralized to objets d'art
  • Page 154 - "Briefing Room" is misspelled as "Brefing Room"
  • Page 155 - "Coolant Tanks" is misspelled as "Colant Tanks"
  • Pages 170 and 171 - ES-4 Electrostatic Pistol misspelled as E4 Electroshock Pistol and E-4 Pistol.
  • Occurs throughout the book - ES-7 Shockgun misspelled as E-7 Shockgun. Mk35 and Mk50 Compression Suit is missing a period and space between "Mk" and mark number. NPCs appear with gear that is not in this book or the core rulebook, e.g., 6B90 Combat Armor, which is only found in the Colonial Marines Operations Manual without clarification. M37A2 shotgun is misspelled as 37A2.
I'm an horrendous picker of nits, so I will likely be adding to this list. I love the book and everything within it but the lack of polish since the beta .pdf was released is quite bothersome to me.

In Building Better Worlds, in the timeline on page 25, it says that the Great Mother Mission is launched in 2182, but arrives in 2186.
Later, in the beginning of the Lost Worlds campaign, on page 164, under What's the Story, Mother?, it says that the trip has taken 102 weeks and 5 days, which is just under two years. Also, in the opening narration of the campaign, the description says that "fighting has broken out", meaning the war has just begun.
I take it this means that the mission arrives in 2184, not 2186.

I'm playing the BBW the Lost Worlds campaign and I have established in my group that they have started (preparation) the Great Mother Mission in 2182, they have launched in 2184 and arrived in 2186 ...

I think it's better not to change the arriving date. But, it's my game decision. You do what you want Ferretz. Have a great campaign.

I'm reading through the Expeditions in Building Better Worlds, and one Event on page 204 puzzled me. In The Raiding Party event, it refers to "Tomogo" and it ends with the term "tail end charlie". I can understand what this is about, but what is the writer really trying to say here? I'm confused. Did I miss something in the book somewhere? :P

Angelman cleared that up for us by asking the author in an earlier thread
viewtopic.php?p=89631&hilit=Tomogo#p89611

Tomogo is the name of the feral faction.

"tail end Charlie" is the "last man in the patrol" - World War II slang for being in a particularly exposed position and subject to being picked off easily by surprise attacks.

To make the confusion complete, on page 23 of Building Better Worlds, it says that it takes the Great Mother Mission "some three years" to arrive. In the campaign, it says 100 weeks and 5 days. In the timeline it says 4 years. :P

Are you aware that there is an error in the starter set? The reference cards panic table differs (missing hesitation) from the rules booklet (and the GM screen and the core rulebook)

That's why my card count wasn't working... we're talking about the Evolved Starter Set here. I was getting 8 in one place and seeing 9 in another. Tokyojoe, did you find this error in the (latest) PDF or have you already received your physical box?

I didn't investigate further at that time.

Alien RPG Evolved Edition Core Rulebook

A few very minor typos I caught while reading:

-Page 76 left column. Cover section, first line: add an open parenthesis before "page 66)"
-Page 144 left column. Stress & Panic In Space Combat section, eighth line: delete one "roll"
-Page 180 left column. Third paragraph, third line: replace "ALIEN RPG Core Rulebook" for "ALIEN RPG Starter Set".

Moderator Action: Post merged with the official errata thread.

More typos in EE:

AEE p258:
Salvage expert Atts are S5 A4 W2 E5, which ∑= 16, not the 14 standard, I expect it should be E3; this is also a different array from 1e (S5 A4 W3 E2)
All three Synthetics attributes total 17, instead of the 20 they should per combination of page 25 (Android sidebar) and 155 (NPC creation). (1e versions do total 20)
