... and then going to Aliens - for every extra success you can:
1) inflict one additional point of damage
2) out-maneuver your enemy and get to exchange your initiative score
3) knock or pull a weapon or other object from your opponent (disarm)
4) your opponent falls prone
5) you pin your enemy in a tight clinch. See Grappling

I was a little surprised not to find brass knuckles (aka knuckle dusters) included in the melee weapons in the Player's Manual (I just checked Urban Ops thinking that they might have been included with the Criminal character archetype and they don't appear there either). Someone upthread suggested +1 damage for brass knucks and, after looking at the damage numbers of other melee weapons in the PM, I think that's reasonable. My question is, would using brass knuckles be considered armed or unarmed Close Combat. I've never used brass knucks but I can't imagine that there'd be much technique- in other words, if a person can throw a decent punch bare-knuckled, they could throw a decent punch with brass knuckles. Therefore, I tend to think that BOTH the Brawler and Melee specialties could be applied to the use of brass knuckles.

Thoughts?

If you want brass knuckles, just reduce unarmed's Armor to +3.

EDIT: This means Brawler and Martial Artist can apply, but not Melee.
