Just finish watching it.

globally I did enjoy the serie. Yes, I agree episode 7 and 8 are weaker and I still they these two should have been played over 4, maybe 6 episodes (so a 10 or 12 episodes serie) to have a smoother transition in the tome shift.

I agree that even if part of it could be considered non canon, the Maginot (and it's class), the 4 other aliens (T oculus, the Tick, the Flower and the bugs), the cyborgs and the hybrids could make for fun addition to the IP. Even if apocryphal or semi-canon, having the option to play them (or with them for the GM) is not a bad thing.

It's obvious that Alien Earth wanted to focus on the Wendy character. About if any hybrid is a human or a monster (rather than android), about their relationship with human (in this case, the relationship with Joe) and the relationship with a dehumanized company and his owner. More like Blade Runner or Ghost in the Shell. Of course, in this case, the xenomorph is secundary.

That's perfect for me.

Problem is Alien Earth misses the focus or the point with each new episode... And It was easy since:

- if you introduce new alien forms, it's easy to forget the focus of the series, that is, Wendy.
- if the villain, like Kavalier, becomes cartoonish; it's easy to miss the point.
- if everything is told, the result creaks. For example, Wendy's power to control the xenomorph sounds ridiculous when It would have been more interesting if that power was shown more subtle.

All in all, I think the central idea (Wendy and her ability to become a monster) is good but the problem is when you introduce so many elements in the mix, so you lose the attention and the focus.

I finally watched the last episode. Overall, the series is interesting. I liked a lot of things. I would have liked more fan service and specific references to the universe we know here (Alien RPG). Not hot, not cold, rather lukewarm...

Eh. Lukewarm at best I think is right AD. This show suffered from a lot. Kids were annoying (and actually evil). Villains were cartoonish. “Good guys” were not sympathetic or likable. So much the success of ALIEN is having a cool world that is an evil world filled with evil corpos and some regular joes just do the right thing. Don’t get me started on her “talking” to the ALIEN. I get it’s “kinda” done in ALIEN Resurrection, but that was freakin Ripley and that entry is hundreds of years in the future so not a big deal I guess.

ALIEN EARTH is ALIEN meets STRANGER THINGS and ST has way better characters than AE.

I know it’s non-canon, but this entry muddles the series and how people would perceive it. With such a rich, awesome world, they chose to spend their millions on this? No thanks. Weakest ALIEN movie/TV entry.

To end on a positive note, the episode about the USCSS Maginot was magnificent and very interesting. All the sets they created (of the ship that's look like the Nostromo) were masterful.

P.S. Now, we're moving on to another call. We're going to have a lot to focus on. The corebook + strater set + Rapture Protocol are about to be delivered. There's plenty of reading to do with these new products, including the latest PDFs released. Happy reading, everyone.

Kirsh and Hermit don't seem to know that FTL has been around for almost 90 years.

Technically there isn't any FTL travel in Alien(s). There isn't in most sci-fi. It's all accomplished by things like warping spacetime or inter-dimensional travel, bending the rules, while actual FTL travel is theoretically impossible according to everything we know and that holds true in these worlds. Actual FTL travel would probably solve a lot of issues, since in most of these fictions warping spacetime or traveling inter-dimensionally tends to lead to bad things like people going insane, damage to the fabric of reality, or opening gates best left closed.

So there's a viable explanation there.

That aside, Wendy is the real monster of the show.

You say it like you think it's unintentional. I kinda figured the show would go in that direction the moment they introduced the concept of putting young kids in super-bodies. From the moment they introduced the idea it scared me more than the notion of a space monster eating me. They seemed to double down on the, 'these aren't your heroes, they're the horror," thing with Nibs and... her whole... everything.

Children have very different ideas than functional adults when it comes to morality, ethics, loyalty. They also have less self-control. You give them what amounts to superpowers and it's honestly nightmare fuel. We are, I assure you, very lucky that kids are small and weak.
