Re: Questions, clarifications and errata to designers

hello just 2 quick question!

-I wanted to know if it was a choice or an errata to change the dodge dynamics from the quick start to the core book,
which now seems to be only usable in ranged combat and not in melee.

-also in blocking explanation it say "monster attack cannot be blocked unless otherwise specified in signature attack"
but in all the monster signature moves now by now the only one block mention is in sentry hound Ferocious Lunge:"The extra attack cannot
be blocked." (so is implied that the attack before it can be blocked but is a bit confusing )

maybe i miss to read something around?

Hi!

We consciously changed the dodge mechanic :)

Regarding creatures, as stated on page 222, all creature attacks can be blocked or dodged if not stated otherwise.

Creature attacks at Engaged range can be blocked and ranged creature attacks can be dodged. No special close combat attacks (page 61) can be used against creatures.

And, of course, this only applies to attacks that deal damage, not Blight or despair.

The first part appears to be an erratum (in the Combat Chapter).

Thank you very much! noticeably clearer now :)
(just page 61 ending row of blocking got a bit of conflict with 222 about it and confused me)

The wording of Exo-Specialist in TGD is a bit confusing.
  • Does Exo-Specialist apply to the use of Delving Suits?
  • For what rolls would Exo-Specialist apply to?
  • Does it apply to attacks?
  • Does it apply to STR Rolls?

The Great Dark, Proximity Sweeper

Page 106: Bonus to PERCEPTION
Page 210: Requires a LOGIC roll

Do you need to roll Logic to activate it, then it gives a +3 to Perception, or is this a mistake?

The talent applies to the use and handling of exo-suits. So it could be a bonus to perform maneuvers in the suit (AGL), or the GM may suggest that handling requires STR. It's not meant to be a combat talent, but if your group is okay with it, you could probably motivate the use in unarmed attacks. But remember, you can't stack talents as stated on page 47 (...and the level of any one applicable talent you have), so, for example, using Exo-Specialist together with Acrobat or Pugilist is not possible. Delving suits are exos (with enhanced Blight-protection).

It should be PERCEPTION in both cases. The Proximity Sweeper is made for easy use to detect close threats, unlike more complex scanners.

Thank you for your response. I would tend to argue it should not apply to STR since bulky does not impact STR but might apply to ranged combat (AGI) though of course that would preclude the use of an actual ranged combat talent. In any case that would be a discussion with the GM.

On page 133

In the chart explaining the guilds' relationships to each other, gardeners guild and machinists guild are classified as both neutral and collaborative, depending on if you read it vertically or horizontally. Do they have different opinions of each other or misprint?

Does the Hardened talent just add additional dice to your blight resistance rolls from your armor? We're curious why it reads like a separate roll, or if there are situations where one receives blight damage and cannot apply the talent.
