Re: Melee Charge- Would you allow...

Okay, so with it being a slow action there is even less of a reason to not be able to use a spear and charge from short to near. Is there any reason anyone can think to not allow it?

I misread/misunderstood your question the first time. My bad.

I don't think CHARGE can be applied when going from short to near and I don't think it should be allowed.

It wouldn't make much sense balance wise, as weapons with reach already have a great advantage in terms of action economy.

Having played this game this game since release, one thing I've found out is that it doesn't matter how many dices you have if you can't use them.
Actions is much more valuable than dices, and reach weapons give you just that.

This is what makes CHARGE such a good skill, as it sort of make your character having a reach weapon all the time.
Giving the same benefit when moving from short to near would be op as it would be no risk, high reward. Imagine moving from short-->near CHARGE attack and move near-->short.
The enemy would have to use both actions just to close the distance ergo if they want to parry/avoid, they can potentially never get to you.

I agree with Skops. The rules clearly don't allow a short -> near charge with reach weapons. And there is no game balance reason to house rule it as reach weapons are already great.
