Magic and Dragon Fire

Would you say that a dragon’s fire breath is classified as a magical attack or not?

One of my players raised the point about what monster attacks can be mitigated with the Protector spell or not.

Converting Humblewood to Dragonbane

Hi, I have always felt like DnD 5e is a weird game engine for the feel and atmosphere of the campaign setting Humblewood. So now with the release of Dragonbane I have started an initial attempt to convert Humblewood and the campaign Adventure in the Wood into using the Dragonbane game engine. In man...

Re: More magic schools?

I had an idea once to make a homebrewed school called "Thaumaturgy" (Sense it is a word that can be described as "the ability to make miracles") The idea being that it was a school which is said to have been taught to mortals by the gods, thus most who practice this school would...

Re: More magic schools?

would there be a way to bring in clerics without dragging in a whole pantheon of baggage?
I mean, you wouldn’t need to mention any particular god or gods at all. So I don’t really see the problem.

Re: More magic schools?

I remember playing a staff mage as a kid back in the day, but already back then I remember thinking that some of the magic schools (and especially some of the spells) were quite poorly designed or just plain silly. So I think it would be a good thing if Free League didn’t hesitate to modernise the m...

More magic schools?

Hi, I know there has been mentioning of a potential magic expansion book further down the road. My players and I would love this. Personally I’m missing primarily two magic schools: Necromancy/Sorcery So basically a magic school with more “evil” magic. Divine/Cleric Animism feels like a mix of druid...

Re: Official Errata Rules Book

On page 73 it says: “Subtle: The weapon grants a boon and increased damage when performing sneak attacks (page 43).” But a sneak attack that uses a melee weapon always gets a boon right? So to write under the description of the subtle trait that you get a boon as well as an extra damage die is confu...

Re: Parrying too weak?

To me, it's not that Parrying is too weak, it's that shields are more or less useless. Shields are a "special case" kind of thing. Ranged and certain monster attacks, that's it. From a "realistic" POV, shields were used for such a long time, because they are versatile. They can ...

Re: Parrying too weak?

My group actually think parry is perfectly fine, it’s rather a problem with players being afraid of damaging their weapons, even though they are easily repaired afterwards.

Actually a weapon breaking in a fight when defending a powerful blow has led to some epic battle scenes.
