Early Access Feedback - Core Rulebook Chapter 1

Thu 16 Jun 2022, 11:07

Hi!

Please use this thread to report any typos or errors in Chapter 1 (Fiery The Angels Fell) of the Early Access PDF of the BLADE RUNNER RPG Core Rulebook. Guidelines to remember:
  • Before reporting an error, please check and see if it already has been reported, and if so, don't report it again.
  • If you want to discuss or feedback something that is not a clear error, don't do it here - instead, please start a new forum post the specific issue.
Please report your feedback no later than July 1 2022. After this date, we may not be able to make any further changes.

Thank you!

Hi, I assume this falls under the Error category. The pages in the pdf are unsynced. When you viewing the pdf in Double-page mode won't you see the two pages as in the physical copy (I hope).

The result is that the pages isn't matching on each spread. One extra page before or after the first credit page fix the unsync error.

Typo on page 19, in the "Corporate Intrigue" section:

" Every boardroom, ballroom, bedroom, and back ally is another battleground"

Probably should read "alley"?

Opening Section
Page 16/Line 1: "It took centuries with countless [parties? people?] sharing the blame..."
There's a word missing after "countless."

P16/Line 9: "...colonization finally expanded, within [?] years growing to nine colonized worlds...
Seems to be a number missing before "years", specifying how long it took to grow to 9 colonized worlds.

The Reintegration
P16/Line 15: "Even still, the N-9s now openly living and working..."
"Even still" does not read well in English. Both of these words indicate an upcoming contradiction, and the presence of both is confusing and redundant. "Even so,..." would read much better. Or maybe just "Still,...".

P16/last lines: "...single-handedly bolstered the city’s economy and sent a bold statement to the colonies. To the humans and Reps on Earth. Even to the LAPD. Wallace Corp will be watching over its city and its Replicants. Over them all."
The style of these sentence fragments is ungrammatical and inconsistent. This can be re-worded to have the same stylistic impact: "...single-handedly bolstered the city's economy and sent a bold statement to the colonies, to the humans and Reps on Earth, and even to the LAPD. Wallace Corp will be watching over its city and it replicants. Watching over them all."

[EDIT: I just read ahead. This use of stop-and-start sentence fragments seems to be used throughout the text. Liberally. Unapologetically. As grating to read as it is to type. Guess I'll have to give up on editing for sentence structure. Deep sigh. My English teacher rolls over in his grave.]

Possibly, "Nevertheless..."

I don't know if its too late to make this suggestion but I'd strongly recommend a larger font than the 9 point font used for the main body of text and 8 point in the index.
Ideally a 12 point font would be best for readability/legibility Us older players who have been fans since the deckard first was on screen have poor eyes
