(Probably) a silly question about Wounds

Thu 02 Jun 2022, 12:53

Hiya!

I know it's most probably a stupid question but I want to understand well how wounds go. If you are wounded and say, you have to recover from the wound in 4 days, that means that if wounded again then you are twice wounded and get dying instead? So basically, until you are fully healed (waiting necessary days) you are considered wounded and in risk of dying if wounded again? Is that how it goes?
I suppose that if you are dying and are saved you are still wounded so another wound will get you dying again?

Thanks!

Yup that's all correct.

Technically you never get a second wound. If you would be wounded but already have a wound, whether received 10 seconds or 10 days ago, you instead fall down and are dying.

As Niallism pointed out, the second wound isn't recorded. But you add 10 days to the recovery time of your first wound.

So let's say, you're wounded in a battle, you roll on the table for wound severity a 10, so your wound is healed in 10 days. During this time, every 1,2,3 on the d6 doesn't count. Then, on day 8, you're being wounded a second time, you fall unconscious and start dying, if no one safe you within 30 minutes. If you survive, you add 10 days to your recovery time to 12 remaining days.

On a side note, with the skill Healing you can shorten the recovery time for the first wound by 1 (plus 1 for every 6).

Being Wounded is separate from being Weary. I'm pretty sure being Wounded doesn't cause permanent Weariness.

If I'm wrong, can you give me a page number to check out, please? Thanks.

Damn, you’re totally right! Being weary only is the case, if your Endurance drops on or under your load. Sorry for the confusion!

When you say that the 2nd injury add 10 days to the recovery time of the 1st injury, does it mean that it's not possible to do a Heal roll and reduce that "10 days" revoery time (like for 1st injury) ?

Interesting question! In this case the healing roll is to prevent the hero from dying. I neither have the book nor the pdf im front of me, but I‘ll check.

I read again the rule from the book and it's really not clear for me :
"If the roll is a success, their life has been saved and they come back to their senses in about 1 hour, at 1 Endurance. If Wounded, heroes must add 10 days to the time required for their injury to mend (minus the days removed by the HEALING roll)."
It's the last part for which I don't know to what it applies to : to the first Injury healing or to the 2nd injury healing ?

I stumbled across this particular paragraph too. It is a bit unclear, but I read it as referring to the first wound and then add 10 days. But maybe others can help here clear this up?

We talked about that point in the The One Ring discord and the conclusion that the healing effect on recovery time applies both to "healing a 1st injury" and "healing the 2nd injury of a dying hero".
