How do clips work?

There's a particular sentence that caught me off regarding clips on Page 85, which states that:
How does this work exactly? Because rules as written, an artifact firearm (let's say a revolver, which usually holds 6 rounds) practically has infinite firepower until the end of combat. In addition, the next page under "Full-Auto Fire", implies that we actually do track ammunition for artifacts, which confuses me even more. Bearing in mind such firearms don't even have guidelines for how many cartridges they can store in their magazines.
Any thoughts? Or am I overthinking an abstracted mechanic here?
Thanks.
Some artifact-guns have a clip that holds several rounds, letting you fire again and again without reloading. You don’t need to keep track of how many bullets remain in the clip – just assume it lasts until the end of the combat.
