Re: Songs by Serafina

Tue 08 Mar 2022, 16:32

After the grimness of Weatherstone Serafina wrote this tavern song to sing the next time they returned to The Hollows or wherever they find an inn.

Jolly

Jolly to be back in town
Jolly to have friends around
Making merry, drinking down
The wonderment of life

Out there the world may seem quite dim
Chance of safety rather slim
Those you meet, ghastly and grim
Full of peril and strife

Jolly to be back in town
Jolly to have friends around
Making merry, drinking down
The wonderment of life

To travel one must take such care
To look for danger everywhere
Count on your crew and be aware
One hand upon your knife

So…..

Jolly to be back in town
Jolly to have friends around
Let’s all have another round
And raise a glass to life!

"Toss your coin to your Minstrel, oh valley of..."

Serafina wrote this song about the fallout that happened as events unfolded in The Hollows. Your campaign will vary but still, some spoilers might have leaked out so marking as such.

---------------------------SPOILER ALERT FOR POSSIBLE EVENTS IN THE HOLLOWS--------------------------------------------------------
The Council of the Three

Trouble came to town
There’s fire on the wharf
The burning of his boats
Brought ire to the dwarf

The Bailiff hired the tanner
To do the evil deed
She never gave a thought to where
The incident would lead

Chorus:
Hey now, the Bailiff’s gone
What will the town’s fate be?
All power’s given over to
The council of the three

The matter was examined by
The Rust investigator
Never knew his death would be
Soon rather than later

His house was burned
he died that night
Again, a crime of flame
Connections made with fiery boats
Said the culprit was the same

Bailiff accused; the tanner confessed
She’d hired him for the deed
Boat fire only; ne’er would kill
It went against his creed

Chorus:
Hey now, the Bailiff’s gone
What will the town’s fate be?
All power’s given over to
The council of the three

The investigator got too close
To discovery, all assumed
So banished the two that burnt the boats
And normal life resumed

But the Bailiff hated to leave her home
So before she left the town
She set another fire ablaze
And burnt the manor down

Chorus:
Hey now, the Bailiff’s gone…

A Hymn for Peace

A child smiles
In a home warm and bright
Doesn’t ask for much
Just a tender touch
And peace in the night

A mother shakes
For the clashing sounds
Are drawing too near
The home fills with fear
As war finds its ground

CHORUS
Peace to live free
In the day so clear
Peace to lie gently
And sleep without fear
Why must our battles always be fought?
Why not instead peace and amity wrought?

Calamity comes
Where enmity looms
Destruction carries on
As war comes upon
The lives it consumes

Heroes emerge
To gather in
The wounded and lost
No matter the cost
So hope ushers in

CHORUS

And this song just came in. Serafina sometimes writes songs about lore she has heard or read about. She is a bit of a lore buff. She also may have seen Teramalda with her own eyes, but when asked about it she quickly changes the subject.

TERAMALDA

Teramalda walks the land
Blood dried sword held in her hand
She burns, she burns and yearns to kill
Three hundred years, and wanders still
Teramalda, Teramalda

Revenge is always on her mind
For those who burned her, hate so blind
The ground shakes as she makes her way
Seeking dwarves to make them pay
Teramalda, Teramalda

If you catch her scent, or feel the quake
Hear the rattle of armor shake
Best not linger in her path
Or look to risk her undead wrath
Teramalda, Teramalda

Teramalda walks the land
Blood dried sword held in her hand
She burns, she burns and yearns to kill
Three hundred years and wanders still

Wow, in last night's game some slavers tried to ambush the group. They quickly turned the tables and only a handful of slavers are left alive. In next week's game Serafina will be using the aid of a certain artifact to convince the slavers to make better life choices. And of course, backing it up with a song which she wrote at 2:30 this morning!

Siren Song
YOU pretend to need our aid
Thought you had a plan well laid
But Serafina’s Siren Song
In the end has proved you wrong

We didn’t want to kill your friends
Their own violence met such ends
Never harm another soul
Or hunting you will be our goal

(Chorus)
Transform this moment
Seek to mend your ways
Reform your pathways, and
Honor mark all your days

We will leave you to the moors
After taking what was yours
You’re fortunate to be alive
Our mercy allows you to survive

(Chorus)
Transform this moment
Seek to mend your ways
Reform your pathway, and
Honor mark all your days

The group found an ghost guarded prison that had become partially submerged in a wetland. They found there had been a child imprisoned here and all that remained was a small marble statue of a child with gilded eyes.

Prison of Tears

Child, long since gone
Gold eyes, demon spawn
Were you evil?
No reprieval
Encased and guarded

Mother’s sorrow raw
An idol, from strength to draw
All that’s left you
Holding on to
A love departed

Child, of ash and stone
Long days, entombed alone
Tears of drowning
Fear and pounding
Broken-hearted

Let us put to rest
Legend may well attest
The need to scatter
Ashes, and shatter
Peril regarded

This song was created by Serafina after her party was ambushed by slavers. It did not go well for the slavers.

The Price

How many have we killed?
How many willed to die?
A mercy done
A battle won
But still, I wonder why?

Is this the only way
For the world to find release
From a fearsome threat
An evil met
Is this the price of peace?

Images that haunt
My dreams, my thoughts, my days
Of heroic deeds
A wound that feeds
The questions that I raise

Is this the price of peace?
Is this the only way?
To raise a hand
Across the land
To seek a brighter day?
