Vaesen: art on GM screen and core book...

Regarding the GM screen:
I am afraid that since the art will be expanded in size, and maybe ’prolonged’ at the sides - there is a risk that it will look too zoomed and not as good as in a smaller format. Not keen on that.

I would like a more triptych version, with the castle on one ( or at least ’reflected’ in the Necks water) and something as evocative and setting related on the opposing panel.

Avoid the brawny cover trolls however, as they make the game look focused on fights and ’van Helsing- the Movie’-like (and a tad bit too immature). The current cover is the art piece I like the least... 😬 would rather have seen a more discret and mystic standalone Vaesen piece. Lindworm pledge looks better, but is not near the best art in Vaesen.

Hi Badmojovoodoo,

none of the GM screens I have from FL, looked "prolonged" or "zoomed" since now.

And especially the actual cover of the standard edition doesn´t look like a fighting scenario. It´s more investigative and exploring, with the lantern in front and this more curious looking forest spirit coming around his cover.

But interpretation of art - every kind of art - is subjective.

I ordered the limited edition, even if I don´t find the solution of cloth, gold and normally printed center perfect, but that surely will be embossed.

Changing the design of the screen, the books and so on, now after the kickstarter has ended, could be very disappointing for these who rely on it.

Besides, have a close look at the GM screen artwork. You'll find that the image is pretty much the entire full-size original artwork; apart from a very slight compositional rearrangement where the face has been lowered slightly in the frame, it hasn't been zoomed of cropped in any significant way just in order to fill the width of the screen. It certainly hasn't been stretched or otherwise deformed.

What instead has been done is that the sides have been extended by mirroring the image, about centre-ish of the side panels.

To me, this makes perfect sense, and I'd be quite happy to receive the screen exactly as shown. However, it also needs to be borne in mind that the image we've seen so far is just a concept rendering; a dummy.
While no substantial alterations to the image are to be expected between now and it going to print, I wouldn't be surprised if FL were to commission Johan Egerkrans to actually extend the artwork by adding more of the water surface to the sides.

Yes, I am sure it will work out fine, just worried that the image will look “enlarged” and not as good on a screen. Nevermind.
