Maybe the your setting for the forum changed when FL changed web-hosting a while back. So check that.

I’ve changed the settings multiple times now, there seems to be an extra column for “notifications”, I still no longer get e-mails though.

That's odd, the email notifications started up for me again yesterday, and I've never had issues with notifications on the site itself (the little bell in the top right which notifies with a red dot). Maybe check to see if somehow you got unsubscribed from your previous watched forums, Fenhorn...?
