Problems in the PDF under IOS and MacOS

Not sure if this has been brought to your attention yet, but it appears that Apple has 'upgraded' the PDF rendering engine in iBooks and it is no longer able to fully render the Coriolis PDF.  The affect is present not only in IOS but also MacOS.

The problem has something to do with rendering of art resources.  Normally a missing picture wouldn't be a major issue, but sometime the missing art is the page's background image.  When this occurs it presents the user with black text on a black background.  This makes much of chapter 8 unreadable.

The problem is also present in the Atlas of the Third Horizon.

I'm not sure if Apple will be fixing iBooks any time soon, so you may want to push out a new copy of the pdf that accounts for the new rendering engine.

Reviewer on drivethrough RPG have noticed this and are commenting.

Note: the iBooks PDF rendering engine is also used in a number of third party PDF readers, so the bug is not limited solely to iBooks.

Yep, we're aware of the issue and looking into it!

It is also an issue in Emissary Lost, just in case you weren't already aware.

Ah. We did a fix for the rulebook and the Atlas Compendium - did you try those?

I just downloaded the 16 Dec release of the Coriolis main book.

It's back to looking good!

The rulebook looks good to me, but the Atlas Compendium (latest file from DriveThruRPG) has problems, as does Emissary Lost. This is using GoodReader on iOS.

Whereas the Core book and Atlas are readable on iPad, Emissary Lost isn’t.

Can the same fix done to make the other books readable be applied to Emissary Lost ASAP?

Thanks guys.

Hiho!

Obviously there’s recently been an update of the files via DrivethruRPG.
But I can’t seem to find a remedy to the situation for Kickstarter backers. Am I missing anything?
Thanks for your help!

Daniel.

Interesting, I got an update for Emissary Lost.

But I cannot see which of the two PDFs is the "optimized" one, as they both have the same modified date.

The filenames are:

COR_emissary_lost_digital.pdf and emissary_lost_digital.pdf

Hm that's weird, we only see one file from our end?
