I have no access to the news section on the FBL kickstarter page, as a late backer. I've seen it concerns the OGL, but I have no ideas about what was said. Could someone give me a brief resume ?

Link to the current WIP draft of the OGL as a Google Doc, which is "not made to be pretty." Fria Ligan want comments on it. In the coming weeks / months, there are plans to expand the OGL with "more rules sections and variants".

Also, "about a month from now", the Community Content Program will be launched on DrivethruRPG, called the "Free League Workshop". This will let us sell our Year Zero Engine products, "as well as make and sell PDF supplements for our existing game lines". Word and InDesign templates will be provided to help make this happen (and I'll slowly be making templates for Affinity Publisher, too).

I'm really intrigued by the prospect of sharing my FL stuff with others, and potentially PWYW for it. But I have no idea how the OGL works, can someone give me some pointers on what is needed?

Has the OGL been updated at all, and did the Free League Workshop launch?

I'm also curious if the license has been published! The last posts here indicated it might have come out months ago, but this thread is the only thing Google takes me to. In particular I'm looking for information for products 'compatible with Forbidden Lands'.

Hi! The OGL is ready and available here. We haven't made a big announcement yet, but you're welcome to use it. The OGL is in the form of a Google Doc, for easy use and reference. It's not made to be pretty. :) The OGL is still a work in progress, and you are welcome to comment on the content directly, using the comments function in Google Docs. In the weeks and months ahead, we aim to expand the OGL with more rules sections and variants.

Thanks Thomas, any news on the Free League Workshop launch?

Thanks, Tomas, that's clear. In terms of producing a bestiary of additional creatures for Forbidden Lands, a few questions:
  • Q1: Is there any more information on use of language such as, "Compatible with Forbidden Lands," which I assume is trademarked? The OGL seems to grant permission to use the Year Zero Engine logo (as OGC), but there's no mention of actual game names.  In other words, did this occur?
I should add that it will probably be possible to publish scenarios that are compatible with Coriolis, MYZ, Tales etc under the OGL, and that take place in the same universe. You just cannot use the official logo on them - it needs to be clear that these are not official Free League products.

We will clarify this in the actual OGL license text. :)
  • Q2: The OGL makes reference to a DriveThruRPG community content program, but I can't actually find anything past this. Does this exist yet? DTRPG doesn't list it.
