On page 26 The Gambler is described as "often pictured as a little girl". On page 234 "often pictured as a young man"

Is this a typo? Or could the gambler be pictured as both? If so which one is the more common occurrence?

I would argue that both versions of The Gambler are valid and acceptable.

Most of the Icons are viewed differently in various star systems, but there are different aspects to each Icon as well.  I would consider the young man aspect as the primary one here, although the little girl could be viewed as "Lady Luck".

Well, it's of course an oversight that he/she's being called both "often". Authorial intent was definitely to have the gender veer in one of those directions a little more.

JohnK is right though. It doesn't really matter. Both forms have been declared valid. You can take your pick.

Yeah, I think there's enough flexibility in all* the Icons for them to appear in male, female and even monstrous forms "often" among the various cultures of the third horizon. 

*Except the faceless one, s/he doesn't "appear" at all.
