Deflection Talent vs Blocking Item Boost?

Hey there. I am sure I am missing something, but I read through the core rules and found the "Siganture Item" Power with it's "Boost: Blocking Item" which allows to block firing attacks instead of having to dodge them. Then I reached the talents and found the Deflection Talent which does the same thing?
Given that for the Boost you already need the base power, and it stops working when the item is destroyed AND it's a power, so it costs 20 karma to learnversus 10 for a talent, why would someone ever take the boost instead of the talent that does the same thing for half the cost, without prerequisites and without the downside?
Even if the answer is"because flavor, it makes sense to lose the power boost when you lose the item" then sure, but given that some characters already use talents and drawbacks differently, why wouldn't I just take Signature Item power and then take the talent anyway, just say that it stops working when my Signature Item breaks and still get the same ability for half the price?
Or is the big deal here that you can use the +2 bonus the Signature Item gives even if the bonus is technically in the "wrong" stat?
