Class A ships?

Hi!

As the title says, I am asking about the Class A ships.

In our last session, players wanted to improve their ship as a mission payment. They have a Corvus and they have few room for improvements (it's a smal ship after all). One available option is to include a hangar, but only with a Class A ship.

There are no stats for this kind of ships. Only the Colonial Marine campaign book from first edition included stats for a class B ship. Have you designed some homebrew ship?

I had thought in the possibility of an EVAC fighter too (again, their stats are in the Colonial Marine book) or something similar. Although it's a vehicle, it's said that it functions as a void vehicle too. I consider the EVAC because it would have some usage for my players... we are playing a mix between mercenaries, space truckers and space pirates campaign and I think a space fighter has some sense in their party rather than a small skiff which can be redundant if you have EEV.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

5-9 meters in length, max crew of 2, no ftl capability. Something half the size of a Starcub. The spaceship equivalent of a mini van. Short range courier vessel at best.

The RF-30F class B service skiff could do the trick (by modifying its class for a reason that you will find). Manufacturer Lunnar-Welsun, cost $800,000, crew 1to4, AI none, Length 10M.

It's a short range craft intended for inspection and repair. It's similar to a submersible in design. Equipped with high intensity lights and small deployable manipulator arms for repairs. It has low energy signature and powered thrusters. It's often used as a reconnaissance vessel to enter a sector. Skiffs are not FTL capable. They can make planetfall. They are incapable of reaching orbit on their own power (but with a few modifications you can change that).

P.S. You can add military elements to it (so make some modifications) and add a small toilet (hahaha!)

P.S.2 The Evac-3 Aerospace Fighter has a length of 19.1m (that's too long for your hangar. And cost is too high $4M each).

P.S.3 Hey... I made this short range reconnaissance vessel... back in the day... the USCMC Alpha One, length 10m, you have all the details in the link below in my DeviantArt account. It's a modified RF-30F Class B service skiff. Have fun ...

Decanox, you can even find this little gem for free (USCMC Alpha One) by hacking military communications. You (your players) will intercept transmissions of a battle between the US Marines and the UPP in a sector (which you'll find). When your players go there, the battle sites often offer spare parts for shipwreck finders... but you'll find this little gem almost intact... it's a good story, isn't it!

Hey! Thanks for your answers!

Ok, I have a better idea now...

Possibly, I take the class B from Colonial Marines and tweak the stats a bit... Of course no FTL, I suppose I wouldn't include AI, but maybe some weapon. That is and all in all, some kind of Alpha One!

Thanks again.

Yes, I fitted an AI-6000 to the Alpha One (Modified RF-30F Class B service skiff), but it might be too big for that small ship. It's up to you. I fitted a 1.4 parsec FTL, but you don't have to. Planetfall and Orbit capacity are fine. It's up to you which weapons you use.

Hahaha... your players might have found the plans to modify the RF-30F Class B service skiff into the Alpha One. The downside is they'll have to build it themselves (hahaha!). Finding an old, abandoned skiff and buying (or finding) the parts to eventually build the Alpha One. It's another good idea.

You never get anything for free... hahaha!

Decanox, your modified RF-30F Class B service skiff could be placed outside using clamps (connected or docked to your players' Corvus Class) with an internal airlock corridor. You might not need your cargo space after all.

They wanted to make the most of the room from their ship, as I said a Corvus, and there is not much room left. So I am going to let them to place a hangar as payment, and later I would let them to purchase a Class A ship.
