Is Space Truckers happening?

Given the Evolved (2nd edition) Kickstarter, what does this mean for a Space Truckers book? I assumed it would be the third after the marines and explorer/colonist books (Colonial Marines and Building Better Worlds).

The Space Trucker sourcebook has been confirmed a few times in the past, but is not part of the next KS wave initiative.

That said, there is a Space Trucker themed cinematic adventure in the new wave -- Rapture Protocol -- and traditionally, the cinematic adventures have functioned as lead-ins to/preview of upcoming sourcebooks. I.e., Chariot of the Gods was paired with the rulebook, Destroyer of Worlds with the CMOM, and Heart of Darkness with the BBW. Based on this trend, it seems likely that the Space Trucker sourcebook is indeed next, after the Evolved Rulebook/Rapture Protocol wave.

Sorry, I'm not sure I am understanding. What I meant to ask is, will there be a Space Truckers expansion for the original first edition, on par with BBW and CM? I'm not sure if you are saying 'yes but it's 2nd edition/evolved' or simply 'yes'. Thanks and sorry for my confusion. :)

Unless something has changed, then yes, there will be a Space Trucker sourcebook on par with CMOM & BBW.

There is no 2nd edition of Alien RPG; the "evolved edition" will be fully compatible with the original rulebook and all published material, and any past and future cinematic adventures and soucebooks will therefor be compatible with both. That has been FL's stated intent since the evolved edition was first teased, and this intent has been reaffirmed time and again since.

We haven't heard a whole lot about the Space Trucker book in recent months, but it was talked about briefly in various 2024 interviews, IIRC. I assume that nothing has there changed, and that the Rapture Protocol cinematic adventure is a precursor to the eventual Space Trucker sourcebook.

If you have a look at the Kickstarter preview page, it has bit more info about the adventure:

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/11 ... e-protocol

(On a slightly different note, I was in the "don't really care about miniatures" camp, until I actually saw them on this page, and a pretty fast U-Turn followed.....it was bad call Ripley, a bad call... :D )

Just to clarify for Tiberius (and others who don't know)... My friend Angelman was explaining that the next FREE LEAGUE product to be released for ALIEN RPG will be a remake (an EVOLVED edition) of the rulebook.

At the same time as the EVOLVED rulebook will be out, there will be a new starter set box (an EVOLVED edition of the starter set box) with the HOPE'S LAST DAY scenario expanded.

At the same time as the EVOLVED rulebook will be out, there will be a new cinematic box scenario called RAPTURE PROTOCOL which will take into account the addition of miniatures rules to the EVOLVED rulebook and new map designs.

FREE LEAGUE usually releases products with a certain follow-up logic ... so CHARIOT OF THE GOD was released at the same time as the 1st rulebook (4-5 years ago) ... the DESTROYER OF WORLDS cinematic was released in the same time period as the COLONIAL MARINES OPERATION MANUAL sourcebook ... the HEART OF DARKNESS cinematic was released in the same time period as the BUILDING BETTER WORLDS sourcebook ... so based on this trend, we can think that the RAPTURE PROTOCOL cinematic will be released and .... in a few months ... the new SPACE TRUCKER sourcebook will come out. RAPTURE PROTOCOL brings us a new SAGA called "JEREMIAH" which will probably be developed further with other adventures (6-7 scenarios) in the SPACE TRUCKER sourcebook and other cinematics afterwards ...

You just have to read between the lines, there is a lot of information in the kickstarter announcements. The miniatures developed for the ALIEN RPG are fantastic (28mm scale).

Enjoy your games,
Arthur.

I think it would be very cool if Free League were able to leverage the customer volume and partner with a miniature painting service for those of us with no inclination to paint. Even if it were something simple like a 25% code for "SCI-FI MINI PAINTING LLP" or whatever. (Name made up, hopefully obviously.)

As is, I paid (a lot, *sob*) to get my GF9 minis painted, so I'm probably fine. But like a lot of us, it's hard to pass up more of them.

Ah thanks everyone. I guess my confusion was in thinking that the Kickstarter was a 2nd edition. Think I got it now, thanks.

Well ... Free League initially called it Second Edition, so confusion is warranted. While I'm personally happy they switched the nomenclature to "Evolved Edition," because it lessens the chance of splitting the player-base, they don't seem to have otherwise changed plans. So, we'll see. While Free League says Evolved will be backwards-compatible, I've been gaming for a looooooong time, and in 45 years I've yet to see a "backwards compatible" system that didn't effectively kill the older version, thus becoming a de facto "new edition."

I don't plan on using any miniatures rules. But I assume that, aside from those, there may be some minor adjustments to the core rules. If so, I would like a sheet that lists those updates, and I'll simply put it with my original rulebook (I am also assuming they will be improvements). If so, then that should let me be compatible with the Space Truckers book once it comes - which I assume will be completely 'evolved' as well.

My concern is that, because Truckers looks like it's coming after Evolved, then if it is evolved itself, AND if I don't like the evolved rules, then it may effectively be that I didn't get an 'unevolved' completion to the series of expansions promised. But I will wait and see how it goes. This is a good company so I suspect things will be ok. :)
