Unless the cost to upgrade the bird is monetary, upgrading it should have an experience cost of X per party member rather than a specific number in total. This to avoid the problem of some players needing to pay more xp than others and making it easy to have any number of players paying xp for it.
I also hope there will be suggestions for encounter difficulty modifications for more players than 4.
