Hi!

I just want to propose a rule that my group has chosen to implement in our sessions...

Only skills that have been used in the ongoing scenario can be improved with exp in the end of the session. This works really fine!

You could also make it, simply put a tick next to any skill that was used last session. The following session, you roll a number of dice equal to the attribute + skill. If you get more successes than the current skill level, it improves.

For example, you have Agility 2 and Ranged Combat 1. You shoot at something in Session #1, you tick Ranged Combat. In Session #2, you roll 2+1 = 3 dice. If you get 0 or 1 successes, your Ranged Combat remains 1. If you get 2 or 3 successes, it rises from 1 to 2.

This would lead to diminishing returns, of course, but that tends to be the way skills improve in reality. But it'd also remove the burden of awarding XP.
