How to create monsters, aliens or general non-human NPCs?

Fri 09 Aug 2024, 17:06

Hi!

I haven't seen any rules or guidelines in the YZE SRD about how to create monsters or (generally speaking) non-human NPCs like, for example, zombies, werewolves, killing aliens, demons, etc.

Anybody who has faced the same issue could help me, please? How do you solve this matter?

Thanks a lot in advance.

there's two approaches

1. Create them as monsters with stats (like in forbidden lands)
2. Create them as a table of actions (like in ALIEN)

Dragonbane also has monsters that are a table of actions but for little things little humanoid things like goblins and Orcs they actually are they actually have an NPC set of abilities.

In MYZ, monsters have stats and skills just like any other NPC as well as some special attack abilities sometimes.
In FbL, they do have some stats and skills sometimes (str for the most part), but they fight with monster attack tables.
In Alien, they rarely have stats and skills (besides health) and they fight using monster attack tables (called signature attack tables).
In Dragonbane, they don't have stats (besides health) but can have some skills and they fight using monster attack tables.

I don't think I have missed something (I skipped Vaesen because they work a little bit different way).
