What jobs do the Nexus-9 have?

Mon 15 Jul 2024, 09:20

Hi,
I'm currently working on my own case file but I ran into a question that I don't think is answered in the current material. What kind of work do the Nexus-9 do on earth. In the Electric Dream case file we learn that there are Nexus-9 working as Rep-detectives, night club dancers and receptionists. In the Fiery Angels case file we also learn that they can work as body doubles for security reasons. But what do the rest of the Nexus-9 do? Do they do manual labour jobs? Customer service? High risk jobs?

What are your thoughts on suitable jobs for more "basic" Nexus-9 replicants on Earth?

They also (and that’s a lot of replicants) work construction on Sepulveda Sea Wall.

Nexus-9 replicants work in various roles, including high-risk jobs like law enforcement, body doubles for security, and physical labor. They also serve in customer service, entertainment, and other demanding industries requiring loyalty and endurance. Their obedience and stability make them ideal for roles unsuitable for humans.

Jumping on the question. While the roles are many - how do people see it when a Nexus-9 replicant is killed by a non sanctioned officer?

In the games I run I refer it as property damage as the N-9 in question is owned by someone.

Does anyone have a differing opinion to this, if so why

Also, businesses are probably allowed to lower the safety standards considerably in construction work or factories if no humans are at risk!

I've been wondering whether N-9 replicants are paid, or owned as slaves. Somebody must have paid to have them made. Do they get a minimum wage just to support and feed themselves? When they go home to their apartments, who pays the rent? Does Taffy own Iris? In the RDU, are replicants owned by the department, or perhaps contracted out by Wallace Corp or another service contractor? In BR 2049, K buys an emanator for Joi, so I presume he must be paid a low wage (also I think when he's injured by Sapper Morton, his boss says she's not paying for that, implying that he's contracted in some way). These are things that can remain as background mysteries in the plots of movies, but questions of being property vs autonomous non-citizens are at the heart of playing the RPG.
