The VK machine is described in the main book but is not listed as starting gear. It also does not have a "standard/premium/rare" category in the book. Is this reserved to just the Interrogation Room? In the movie, Holden and Deckard carry the VK around in a suitcase. Do we assume that one must "Sign out" the interrogation room to run a VK test?

Any thoughts?

The VK machine isn't standard issue gear, they're considered old and almost obsolete, they're also bulky so you don't generally just carry them about. They're the purview of Criminal Investigations, so you can use ones in the Interrogation Room for no cost (see Fiery Angels for an example of this in play). We've gone with being able to requisition one for field work being the same as using the Interrogation Room, since the standard/premium/rare stuff seems to only apply to the Armoury.
