The One Ring Core Rules – Official Errata

Mon 15 Jan 2024, 11:20

Hello!
A number of clarifications and corrections have been made in the third printing of the The One Ring core rules. The PDF has been updated in DrivethruRPG (you should be able to update your library to access it there), and a full errata PDF listing all changes from the first printing can be found here.

Excellent and well weighed changes here. Look forward to picking up the third printing when it becomes available.

I here there are sample characters coming our at some point too, look forward to seeing them.

Thanks to the team for their fine work. :)

Particularly like:

- The Resolve/Hate spend per round limit.
- Intimidate Foe makes foes weary for all rolls, not just their next attack. So it will help against high might foes, weakens opposing protection tests too.
- Good to see the Ruins of the Lost Realm Council/Skill endeavour rules become the core rules.
- Good tweaks to various virtues.

Thanks for these errata. Good changes on the whole!

A small typo crept in however:
The change on Page 102 reads '...for the round to impose o remove a complication...'
There is an 'r' missing in the word 'or'.

Keep up the great work!

On a closer look, I have a question regarding the new "Hardiness" virtue. Does the endurance bonus get recalculated when the hero raises its WISDOM rating or the bonus stays as when the virtue was acquired?

I would say it gets recalculated since it can only be taken once but it would be nice to have more opinions on this.

It is recalculated, just like the benefits of other Virtues (Cram, Defiance, Elbereth Gilthoniel!, and Foresight of their Kindred). Thus, regardless of when it is acquired, Hardiness will at any time provide bonus Endurance equal to the Player-hero's current WISDOM value.

Should the change to Elven-skill (the requirement that the Player-hero possesses at least one rank in the skill in question) also be taken to apply to High Elves of Rivendell and Elves of Mirkwood?

The supplements where those Cultures appear will have their own errata in the future: however, it is most likely that those Cultural Blessings (and Beorning's Virtue Beorn's Enchantment) will be updated with the same requirement.
