When to trigger a mishap?

I've just played in a super fun game of Forbidden Lands: Bitter Reach. The GM applied a rule different to me, so wanted to check in with folks to see how you do it.

If a character fails at a task, but decided to push the roll, when does the character fail and trigger a mishap (Foraging etc)? Is it after the first roll, or after the failed 'Push'. I have always held off any mishaps until the outcome of the Push, but the GM was applying mishaps regardless of the outcome of the Push.

Hope that makes sense, and any thoughts?

Always after pushing. The re-roll is there to deliberately generate (more) successes that eventually modify/improve the first roll's result - or to AVOID the mishap, at the potential price of some damage. Unless the PCs is a dwarf it's the final result with all Banes and Successes and the relating consequences. And even if the second roll fails (= no Six at all), there is the option to trigger a suitable Pride. The consequences of the pushed roll (attribute or gear damage) still apply, though.
