Re: Building better worlds pdf

I’m really happy with the pdf but I’m not too comfortable with the NAPRO development. Just a thought on the political blocks . I can’t really envisage a UPP (Russia) united with Germany and Spain in a socialist union . It’s based on the events of the 1980’s where we have 3 main players , the USA , Russia and China . I can’t really see a European federation not being a major player . I envisage some kind of federation of a united Europe , the uk ,Japan , Korea , Australia , NZ , the pacific , the Philippines and maybe others . Surely that would be the rival of the UA, UPP, China and smaller groupings instead of a 3WE .
Just to say these political blocks were def8nd in cannon long before the game, the UPP in the aborted William Gibson Alien 3 script for example

Yep , I understand that . It’s reflection on when it’s written and mirrors the political blocs at the time , which seems a little out dated even by 2023 . If it was written now then the political situation would be very different from a projected UPP or 3WE in the future

NAPRO, UPP, anything else that you don't feel is "fun" for your game or group ...

change.

Building Better Worlds, the ALIEN RPG, every film, book, game, and comic ever made ... are all just toys in your toybox to take out and play with *or not*

UPP hit by a revolution from within ...possibly triggered by some disaster event like an overworked, underfed station failing that triggers a revolution domino that topples the entire shaky mess - install whoever you like to fill the power vacuum - a loose network of now unaligned worlds with multiple UPP generals all vying to rebuild the empire - bitterly opposed by the people they want to build that empire with.

NAPRO ... overrun by their own hubris ... they get their wish ... the xenos they harvest and try to weaponize eat them instead.
Scratch one insufferable colony world that forever becomes a historical footnote in your game and a navigation warning to anyone who goes there.

Just because something is canon, or not, only matters to your game and your fun *if you want it to*

Turn the things you don't want into toys you do want to play with by creatively breaking them.

Anything released in the future that disagrees - can be changed or adapted too.

And with all that said - really liking all the new toys added to the toybox in Building Better Worlds...

It's a bit like an all-you-can-eat buffet of things that want to eat you. So good.

Could not have said it better my dear friend ExileInParadise.

Campaign stories (6 + 1 finale expeditions) in Building Better Worlds (BBW) are just amazing.
Lots lots of stuff you can do with it.

P.S. I have established in HEART OF DARKNESS that the Filfremmen are able to communicate (telepathically) with synthetics and androids (it's one of my ideas) and I'm gonna use this with BBW's campaigns.

Strange thing, I just received notification from GamesQuest that my copy of Building Better Worlds has been shipped. AFAIK official release date is January 2024, so I'm wondering if anyone else has been notified about their order?

I got notification also . The order has just been created but not yet dispatched . It usually means it will be dispatched within a week . I live in Ireland so I reckon I should get it as usual in about 2 weeks
