Re: Dragonbane BETA v2 Rulebook Feedback - Chapter 7 Bestiary

Not sure if already picked up, but someone on the discord pointed out the Minotaur is missing weapon damage in the stat block. (same with wight)
Yes! I know it's referencing the damage listing in the Gear chapter, but if the aim is ease of use for GM's it should absolutely be right there in the statblock. "Fewer numbers on the stat block" does not automatically make something easier to use. Hopefully this is changed!:)

I watched this, and apparently they consider the amount of stats sufficient for the GM to run the creatures in the book. And it does not seem they will be adding additional stats. So RAW the game is broken when the rules calls for rolling against STR, CON, etc. Or maybe just orcs and goblins are immune to ensnaring roots, being shoved in combat, or being poisoned.

I am confused because the video said, "Some NPCs will have more detailed stats."

He did give a spiel about keeping stat blocks succinct but he also said that he wasn't sure exactly what the question was about but it was something different, they will see.

So some NPCs stats will be added and I guess the rest is still a maybe?

I got the impression we have one more Beta to find out.

I could be wrong, but seeing the interview i think i understand what he is getting at.
I managed to have a look on an older eddition of DoD (the 2016 eddition i belive) monster book, and the stats on it was a bit more expansive, but also rather cluttered in it's layout. It also had some vauge wiggle room on some cases (for example on Orks it listed their skill in ranged weapons, melee weapons and unarmed attacks, but left the damage values blank on the weapons aside a note saying "Orks usually weilds these weapons", meaning you would need to refer to the playbook to see what damage that weapon dealt).

Its in swedish but you can see the ork page here https://www.spelochsant.se/uploads/imag ... iginal.jpg

With this, i can think what they wanted to do was to reduce this into something more easily digestable, so you can skim read the statblock to get what you need.

I do agree on the fact that they cut perhaps too much that could be useful for the gm, but otherwise i do like their approch of streamlining it. The less i must keep track off the faster i can get the game going.
Beware the fey!

Free League's edition of Drakar och Demoner (Dragonbane) has 6 attributes. I think all six attributes will fit on two or three rows in a stat block. Like in DnD. https://i.pinimg.com/originals/09/a8/76 ... 6e54d8.jpg
