Dragonbane BETA v2 Rulebook Feedback - Chapter 4 Combat & Damage

Thu 22 Dec 2022, 13:06

Hi!

Please use this thread to post feedback and report any typos or errors in chapter 4 of the BETA PDF of the Rulebook Dragonbane. Guidelines to remember:
  • Before reporting an error, please check and see if it already has been reported, and if so, don't report it again.
  • If you feedbacked on something in the the first version of the BETA but it's not changed in the version two of the BETA, it's not because we missed it - it's because we made a different assessment. (Typos are a different thing.)
  • Please report your feedback no later than January 31.
Thank you!

Pg45 Shove mechanic
If you hit an enemy with a melee attack and your STR is equal to or higher than your opponent’s STR, you can choose to shove the enemy up to 2 meters in any direction

NPCs and Monsters don't have a STR stat. Should this be the STR damage bonus?

page 50, "Instant Death: You don’t record negative HP, but if a single attack reduces your HP to a negative score equal to your full HP," should read "Instant Death: You don’t record negative HP, but if a single attack reduces your HP to a negative score equal to or below your full HP,"

The battlemap mentioned in page 44, what is the size of each square on the actual map going to be? They represent 2x2 meters but how big are they gonna be on the tabletop?

Does the Help action (p.32) in combat have to take place on a character's turn, or can it be used as a reaction when the other character is about to roll (provided you have not yet acted this round)?

It would be nice with a clarification (or some advice) in the "Combat Maps" box on page 44 on how much of your movement a diagonal step use if you're using a grid map

Initiative: it seems tedious to redraw the cards every round. Maybe just draw at the start of combat and keep the cards for hte whole combat. You could add something like the 'feint' action from Forbidden Lands to add some fun tactical depth and shuffling around of cards during combat.

Dodging: (page 41)

"you can dodge while prone" ? you can? or should it say can't?
under movement "you may move up 2 meters.... before you fall" - It is not specified anywhere that when you dodge you fall or go prone.

When the last player (or GM) in the round starts his turn, another player (that isn't involved in that action) starts to shuffle and deal out the cards again so when the new round starts, the only thing that you have to do is to flip your (newly dealt) card face-up.
