Key attribute

I did look in the pdf but... What is the meaning of key attribute in Dragonbane? I don't see any advantage or reason of this in the pdf. What did i miss?

For now just flavor it seems. I pondering suggesting that players have the option to take a +1 here in exchange for a -1 in another stat, one time, during character creation. As long as they aren’t already at 18.

I was wondering if the Profession could get a +1 in the Key Attribute since it doesn't gain anything from Kin.

Perhaps a free healing of the attributes condition, once per session.

As I suggested in feedback:

- Key attribute could be the only one you can swap when generating scores.

or

- Attributes generally are generated by 3d6 but key is generated by 4d6 drop one

Either would actually help profession matter a bit more.

I think players will generally ensure they use the swap to boost their key attribute if need be anyway, unless they plan to do a dramatic turn for their character.

I like all attributes being rolled 4d6 keep 3, personally, based on playing through the QuickStart. I have Mörk Borg for my grittier fantasy game, so I’m picking this up as my more heroic option for games.

Luckily we’ve probably all played D&D enough to know that the first house rule at a table is often how attributes are generated anyway so I’m sure this rule will be the first to go no matter what they settle on in the final product.
