Being inspired

Sun 25 Sep 2022, 05:32

So if you are inspired "on all your rolls" (a dwarf with Dark business, or whatever it's called as a cultural virtue) does that only give you a bonus if you spend hope? I know if you are using hope, and inspired you get bonus 2d. Does it do anything if you aren't using hope?
We just tore up some swamp dwellers and then I realized one of the players was doing "inspired" wrong and had gotten it mixed up with Favored! Woops.

From page 20 of the core rules...
  • "HOPE BONUS: A Player-hero about to make a die roll can spend 1 Hope point to gain (1d)."
  • "INSPIRATION: An Inspired Player-hero who spends 1 Hope point to get a Hope bonus gains (2d), instead of (1d)."
So yes, you must spend 1 Hope to invoke the "Dark for Dark Business" Dwarven Cultural Virtue otherwise it does nothing.
