Probably not a mistake, but there are no rules for kaijus or similar monsters among the NPC Profiles. It would be good to have, since I remember that both Omni-Man fights one and Invincible encounters something similar in Atlantia.

1. Where is Grand Regent Thragg in the NPC section? How can you leave out the greatest villain of all?

2. As I look at the NPCs, it seems PCs need more hero points in character creation.

The game is excellent, possibly the best one I've seen, but there are basic rules missing that every superhero RPG has.

- missing rules for picking up throwing things (and how far)

- missing rules for drugs/poisons

- missing rules for GM difficulty levels that are suggested on page 83:

Roll Modifiers
The rules, the adventure text, or the GM can modify your
chances, adding or removing dice for you to roll. This is
referred to as +1 die, +2 dice, etc., and conversely –1 die,
–2 dice, etc. You can never go below one die.

- missing rules for how fast non-combat movement speeds are -how fast in km is my Flight power?

p105 Pooling Your Resources

By pooling resources, an Expert (5) and a Public Servant (3) could by a Space Shuttle.
The lunch lady, social studies teacher, and janitor (I'd put them as 3's) could also get the shuttle without that pesky roll.

This isn't how it works.

On page 109 it states: "If your Resources score is lower than the Cost, there is no way you can afford the item unless you get a loan".

Dice rolls to purchase items are only made if your Resources are equal to the Cost (page 109) , then you "roll a number of dice equal to your Resources. You need to roll at least one 6 to afford the item. This roll cannot be pushed" . So the Expert (Resource level 5) would only be allowed to let others pool resources with him if the item he wanted to buy cost 5. This simulates the main buyer being in the bracket to possibly afford the item, and his friends scraping together what funds they have to help.

For any items of cost 4 or less, he doesn’t need to roll and buys the items automatically.

For any items costing 6 or more, he needs a loan. Pooling Resources does not apply to Loans, only to items that require a roll.

The expert could get a loan to buy a Helicopter (cost 6), or a Luxury Yacht at the most (cost 7), as a loan raises Resources by 1 or 2 points only. (page 109)

What are power exploits? I thought they were just a different name for what other games call power stunts: using your abilities in creative ways. Like, rolling your Electrical Control to save someone who's havinga cardiac arrest and such.

But they seem to be just a term for the effects of certain Boosts. Can you clarify it? Also, will there be notes for power stunts?

Speaking of definitions, Huge creatures. There's a subsection for them (p.92) in the Slugfest section, but it just collects rules that are mentioned separately in other parts of the book. I think it could use some clarification.

For example, at what size something is considered Huge? Does a hero with Basic Size Alteration count as Huge? If not, at what rank does it apply? Is a tyrannosaur Huge? What about a whale?

BTW, Size Alteration could use some guidelines on how big/small the character gets. I know the game is going for fuzzy limits so as to allow more flexibility, but things like "big as a bus/house/airplane/building" would help.

It's a similar point as the one Astro brings above abou non-combat movement speeds.

I just realized there are no shield rules in the core. Not even something as simple as "a shield provides +1 die for blocking". Seems fair that shields would provide a bonus, since weapons do.

Pg 263: Recommend moving the Event Check table to the bottom of the page to aid reading flow.


Pg 266: Both examples for binary responses only feature strong yes/strong no. Recommend replacing one with examples for normal yes/no, as these may require more guidance for beginners.

General recommendation for Crisis Mode: add a page (or possibly a half page and cut some art) describing what you need to prepare a game - i.e., how many villains, general ideas, etc. Anything you should have prepared before the game begins. This could also take the form of a secondary character sheet with spaces for all the timers, villains, context, and possibly some charts.
As it is, CM includes loads of useful inspiration, but not a lot of stuff that ties it together into a cohesive whole. Loads of "to do X, do this" but not a lot on "when do I do X?"
You could probably remove, replace or alter the art on pages 263, 264 and 273 to gain some page space to include an overview/character sheet page and a general "this is what you need to prepare, this is what youre going to do in a campaign turn" page.
As it is, CM has great ideas, but needs some work to truly shine.

Page 76 in the talents section:

Pushing rolls only normally gives you stress if you roll ones. The first roll should not cost “1” but however many ones you roll. Does the second roll cost one point of resolve reguardless?

The "push twice" talents all have that erroneous last line. They're on our list to fix - the total number of 1s rolled after the second push is the amount of stress taken.
